Evelyn Roth is a Canadian artist who has spent six decades making inflatables, weaving recycled videotape, and being politely left out of the art canon. When an invitation arrives from the prestigious Vancouver Art Gallery, she reads it as overdue recognition and enlists her Maslin Beach neighbour Ali James, a publican who has spent her own life holding institutions together from the inside, to get her there.
